OurVision, Mission, Diversity, & Strategies

  • To be a voice promoting stewardship of San Diego region wildlife and habitat.

  • To sustain and expand long-term monitoring of the diverse wildlife and habitats of the San Diego region, to analyze and share findings, and to engage community members through educational outreach and volunteer activities.

  • The San Diego Tracking Team (SDTT) is committed to monitoring and preserving the wildlife of San Diego County, a hotspot of biodiversity. We welcome the participation of all people from our region's multicultural population who are interested in our mission. With diversity in our volunteers, leadership, and educators comes a broad, inclusive perspective, ensuring the success of SDTT's stewardship of our county's treasured wildlife and habitats.

    • Sustain and grow the San Diego Tracking Team (SDTT) to support monitoring of wildlife in San Diego County.

    • Regularly monitor the presence (and absence) of certain target and rare species that reflect the health of the ecosystem, and record those data consistently for all of San Diego County.

    • Provide SDTT data and analysis to enable thoughtful development, conservation, and restoration planning in San Diego County.

    • Participate in San Diego County efforts to monitor and improve the effectiveness of planned conservation efforts (e.g., MSCP, MHCP).

    • Facilitate San Diego community awareness, involvement, and appreciation of the environment and the importance of conserving habitat by conducting public outreach and offering education opportunities.
